Lillian Marks is an expatriate American living full time in Paris. Ms. Marks is a dedicated poet and pianist and has recently further developed her creative expression through the medium of sculpture. As an extension of her interest in women's societal influences and challenges, her work explores various narratives that provoke questions in the viewer about intention, humor and taste. In her work on view at Grounds For Sculpture, Alone Together, Marks steps boldly into a narrative that raises eyebrows and purposefully shocks. As with the early Judy Chicago feminist works, the explicit sexuality is certain to generate conversation, and this, in the end, may be the artist's most potent impact.
